Julie's Family {Collingwood Portrait Photographer}

Afternoon,
What brings a family together? I can tell a tonne from the way people pose in my studio. It always tells me a bit of their story. I do all I can to make people look their best. But... when it comes down to how the final portrait is going to look, it is all up to them. What I loved about this session, when I asked them to hug all of them put their hands on Julie. As soon as it happened I LOVED it. I found the answer to my question... a Mom.
Hope everyone is well.

Maureen's Grandkids

Afternoon,
You are going to have to bear with me on this one… It sometimes takes me by surprise at the memories that can come up when I am shooting. My friend Mariane's older Bro (Ian) is moving with his family to Australia for 3 years. When she told me this I immediately thought of Maureen, her mum. We had to get her into my studio with her 3 grandkids. I didn't realize at the time why I had such a need to shoot this portrait. As I was shooting it really hit me. When I was 3, I moved from Scotland to Canada with my parents (I can do a wicked Connery/Butler/McAvoy accent). I don't have allot of pictures with my grandparents. It wan't lost on me what was happening to this family. It was the same thing that happened to mine 40 years ago. It is quite an amazing thing what a grandparent can mean to someone. Even when they are not with us anymore. I keep an unopened mickey of Bell's scotch on my desk, just for my Nana Lunan… crazy. I had asked Mariane for a little quote, as I do of my clients, to go with this posting. Actually, I asked her for two. I loved what she sent but for me they just were not fitting. It didn't really come to me until this morning, these pictures aren't really for Mariane (as strange as that sounds). These pictures are for Maureen's three grandkids, my own grandparents and me.
Thanks for having a look… it means allot.
